What is the SEO Project
SEO means Search Engine Optimization and is the process of optimizing different elements of a webpage, such as its content to increase the likelihood of its appearance in relevant web search results. The main goal of the SEO project is to enhance the quality of readers' experiences with the content being shared and to improve the visibility and accessibility of the webpage for the readers.
Procedural Stages
Researching
I started the SEO project by using the iFixit website to gather information about different devices and their general structure. To enhance my research, I have been utilizing alternative search engines and a thesaurus to find related terms in the database, and applying filters to refine my search results. I have used different operators (AND,NOT,OR) to combine different terms. I have also been exploring different databases to uncover additional information about the device I am studying.
Evaluating Resources
As part of my research process, I have evaluated the resources I have found, ensuring that the information is relevant and trustworthy. To do so, I have used the EAT (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) method to assess the credibility of each source. Specifically, I have checked the links and citations of each website, as well as the publication dates and authors to ensure that the information is up-to-date and reliable. From there, I have carefully selected the credible websites for further analysis
Analyzing Information
I analyzed which information are relevant to my device page and selected the most relevant ones to use in my device page. I faced some challenges while extracting relevant information as there was not much information on biomedical equipment itself and there were only case studies available. I overcome those challenges by different different manual and guides for the device page by advance search skills and gathered all the information possible.
Final Device Page
After obtaining approval from iFixit, I have incorporated the information that I analyzed into my device page. I structured the information in accordance with the format used for device pages on iFixit.
Reflection
Working on the SEO project has taught me important research skills needed in my career. I have learned how to use different key words and filters to find information on a specific topic as information about biomedical equipment is challenging and not easy to find. I have also learned how to properly check for the credibility of a source using the EAT method. Completing this project allowed me to enhance my writing abilities as it was my initial experience in writing content based on manuals and user guides which introduced me to a new form of writing.
